Term 1 Week 10 work

Welcome to Term 1 Week 10 in Room 3

Here are your tasks for this week.  You will notice that work has been set for Friday which is also Good Friday.  It is completely optional whether you do work on this day, save that work for another day or do not complete it at all.

Please feel free to continue taking pictures of work that you are proud of and post them onto your blog or email them to your classroom teacher.  Remember that this is flexible online learning so please feel free to fit the work in around your family schedule.

We also have a special treat and familiar face this week.  Miss Donnell has recorded herself reading stories and uploaded these onto Youtube.  The daily link you see on this blog post is to a different story each day. We hope you enjoy them.

Finally, if you’re still looking for extra things to do remember to check out the “Science in a Van” live daily at 12:45 https://www.youtube.com/user/ScienceinaVan

Reading:
Words aren’t just in books or online - words are everywhere!  Today you are going on a word hunt. Look around the house for as many words as you can find.  Can you read these words? Can you recognise some of the letters in those words? Take photos of some of the words you find if you can or get a pen and paper and write some down.  Get someone in your house to help you read the ones that are tricky.

Writing:
Have a look at the writing you did on Monday about what is outside your window. Have a look outside your window. What can you see outside today? Is it the same or different as Monday? What are some different things you can see today?
Write at least 2 sentences about it.  If you get stuck you can ask somebody in your home to write the sentences for you and then you can copy underneath.

Maths:
How about going on a Teddy Bear Hunt today. Walk around your neighbourhood with an adult and count how many bears you see in people’s windows. You could record different categories on a piece of paper e.g big/smaller than your paper or bears and other types of soft toy. Which house/ street had the most bears on display?

Extra:

Dance:  Boogie down to Justin Timberlake by practising the moves and doing the dance.  You could get an adult to film you doing the dance once you have practised a bit and send it to your teacher or upload it onto your blog. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seg8bLgxV1g

Phonics:  Today we are going to practice our superhero listening. Being able to hear and tell the difference between everyday sounds helps us to do the same with alphabet sounds.  Close your eyes and listen really carefully. What sounds can you hear? Tell an adult the different sounds you are hearing. Get somebody in your house to make different sounds and you try and guess what they are.  Remember to keep your eyes closed while you do it - no peeking!!!

Values: Make good choices. What is a good choice you have made at home this week? How have you been making good choices? Take a photo of you making a good choice or write a story about a good choice you made.

Friday

Reading:
Today you are going to relax and listen to somebody read to you.  Ask someone in your house to read a story out aloud to you. While they read it, close your eyes and create the pictures in your mind.
Spend 10 minutes doing tasks on sunshine online, sunshine classic or literacy planet.

Writing:
Let's get outside and do some writing in this beautiful weather !
Put some water in a bucket or ice-cream container, whatever you have, and if you don’t have a paint brush, then you can use an old toothbrush or piece of sponge. On a concrete patch outside, write all the letters you know (what sounds do they make?), write your name too.  Maybe you can also write some of your ‘high frequency words’ that you have been learning in your homework book, or you may remember some of the words from our word cards that we use at writing time. Have a go !!!

Maths:
Today you are going to play cards. A lot of card games require you to read/recognise, and use numbers in the right way, for example, snap, go fish, and last card.  If you do not know how to play these games, then ask a family member to teach you. You can play snap all by yourself too ! Once you have learnt these games, they will be a lot of fun for you to play over and over again.
Now go to www.matific.com - complete at least 4 tasks that your teacher has set.

Extra:

Art: Draw a teddy bear, add a bow or maybe your bear could be holding a balloon.  Colour it in and place it in the window for others to see.

PE:  Jump Jam! Choose a Jump Jam song to get up and move with! https://www.jumpjam.co.nz/quarantine/

Phonics:  The alphablocks are back with a short video today!  Watch the video. What word did they make? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsmUXOzQGjU
What other words can you think of that rhyme with the word “man”?  Write them down.

Values: Talk to somebody at home about all the different ways you have shown resilience this week.  Write a list together or take a photo of you doing one of these things to share with your teacher.
